WSDOT to host open house on Tuesday, Oct. 2

MALTBY – Community members and travelers who use State Route 522 in Maltby are invited to learn about proposed congestion relief and safety designs for the SR 522 Paradise Lake Road Interchange.

The Washington State Department of Transportation is hosting an open house on Tuesday, Oct. 2. Community members can discuss and share feedback with traffic engineers about conceptual design options for the busy SR 522 and Paradise Lake Road intersection. No formal presentation will occur and participants are free to come and go at their leisure.

Traffic congestion at SR 522 and Paradise Lake Road currently causes long delays for commuters, freight haulers and local businesses daily. Drivers trying to get around the bottlenecks on the highway cause the traffic to spill over onto side streets.

The Washington State Legislature provided WSDOT with $750,000 in the 2017-2019 transportation budget to study improvements on SR 522, including the Paradise Lake Road interchange. An additional $10 million in design funding, allocated in the 2015 Connecting Washington transportation package, becomes available in 2025.
