Whatcom County

SR 20 Maintenance/Utilities

Work schedule:

  • Friday, May 29 – Traffic will alternate on westbound SR 20 between Moen Road and Sauk Store Road from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.

SR 9 Maintenance/Utilities

Work schedule:

  • Wednesday, May 27 to the afternoon of Friday, May 29 – Traffic will alternate on SR 9 between the Whatcom, Skagit county line and Potter Road from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
  • Monday, June 1 to the afternoon of Friday, June 5 – Traffic will alternate on SR 9 between the Whatcom, Skagit county line and Potter Road from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.

Skagit County

SR 20 Spur - city of Anacortes

Description: City of Anacortes contractor crews will build a roundabout east of the Anacortes Ferry Terminal.
Work schedule:

  • Monday, March 16, through Friday, May 29 - Contractor crews working for city of Anacortes will work from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday to build a roundabout at the intersection of SR 20 Spur/Oakes Avenue and Glasgow Way/Ship Harbor Boulevard just east of the Anacortes Ferry Terminal. During some stages of work, traffic will be alternated through the intersection and at other times some travelers will need to follow a signed detour. SR 530 - Emergency Repair

Highway: SR 530    Region: Northwest    County: Skagit    Location: Milepost 57

Description: In 2020, WSDOT contractor crews from Trimaxx will finish emergency repairs stemming from a winter storm that flooded the highway. The work zone is between Darrington and Rockport, roughly 9 miles south of the junction with SR 20.
Work schedule:

  • Tuesday, May 5 to Saturday, May 9 - SR 530 will remain reduced to one lane around-the-clock so crews can return to finish highway repairs. Traffic continues to be alternated through the single open lane.

SR 536 Development Work - city of Mount Vernon

  • Monday, May 18, to the morning of Tuesday, May 19 - Traffic will alternate with a controlled signal at West Pioneer Way from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m.  

SR 20 Deception Pass Bridge and Canoe Pass Bridge - Painting and Special Repair - #9344

Description: In 2019, WSDOT contractor crews from Eagle Industrial Painting will start at two year bridge painting and special repair project.

Work schedule:

  • Until further notice - Parking along SR 20 is limited during bridge painting work.
  • Until further notice - Crews will close a lane of SR 20 nightly between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. for bridge painting and repair work. A flagger will alternate traffic through an open lane.
  • Until further notice - Crews will do sandblasting work to remove old paint from the Canoe Pass and Deception Pass bridges. This work will happen daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and can be extremely loud, especially for anyone walking or driving near the bridges.
